I came across an interesting blog the other day, and while I’m still reading the archives, one post, in particular, stood out for me.
It stood out because the concept of stock and flow really intrigued me. While I think the concept would be more productive for a non-fiction writer, I think fiction could benefit as well. How? Well, if one is thinking about dabbling in a genre they do not currently write in, the blog could be used as a place to house snippets of scenes in that genre. Bits of conversations, random scene setting…it can all be used as a yardstick…to see if one has something to say in that genre.
Or not.
I think it’s worth a try here, although I don’t expect it to be a daily thing. Perhaps twice-weekly. I suppose it all comes down to how often inspiration strikes.
We’ll see.
Splintered Realities 
Interesting idea. I’m not disciplined enough yet to do daily writing, although I am working on it. Have been for the last 20 years! I’ve got better since I’ve breathed new life into my blog though. Sometimes I can whack out a thousand words in half an hour if I’ve got something to say. I’ve got a blog folder in googledocs with random brain farts that might end up as something useful, although admittedly some of them are just rants that should never see the light of day. I keep another folder of idea snippets for stories, even just a title sometimes that’s popped into my head. I’ll browse it every so often to see if anything strikes. I do think the writing every day thing is good practice. I’ve probably got it up to four or five days a week, but I don’t have a set time, just when the opportunity presents itself.
